MatchBox is the spectral color approval module of DMIx, the Product Reality Management System by ColorDigital GmbH. A brand specifies one color standard as spectral measurement data, defines the tolerance and the allowed direction of deviation for each process, and its suppliers measure and approve lab dips and bulk against that standard on their own instruments. A knit, a print and a coated trim cannot hold the same window. The tolerance is derived from what the finished product has to achieve, which means it is set per material and process rather than copied across the book.
A tolerance alone tells a dye house how far it may be off. It does not say in which direction the deviation is acceptable, which is the information that turns a correction into one step instead of three.
Trusted suppliers can be permitted to release their own in-tolerance results, while anything outside tolerance stays in the standard review. The permission is per supplier and can be withdrawn.
None of these is a setting a supplier can quietly reinterpret, because every approval carries the measurement data it was granted against.
