Bulk quality in real time.

By the time a quality problem is visible, it is already expensive. DMIx moves quality decisions upstream, from subjective inspection after the fact to objective measurement against a defined standard throughout production.

Il problema

Perché oggi il colore e il materiale tendono a variare.

Late defect detection is one of the most costly patterns in textile and apparel production.

A batch deviates. The deviation is noticed, at goods receipt, during QC, or after a customer has already placed an order. At that point, the options are all bad: accept the deviation and let it affect the brand, renegotiate with the supplier, or reject the goods and absorb the loss.

None of these are good options. And none of them address why the deviation went undetected.

The answer is usually the same: there was no objective reference during production. The target existed on a physical lab dip, or in a verbal approval, or in someone's memory of how the color looked at sign-off. Inspection happened visually, under variable conditions, by people comparing against a standard that was never precisely defined.

Tolerance discussions after the fact are always harder than tolerance definitions made upfront. The goal is not to punish deviations, it is to detect them early enough that they can still be corrected.

Come DMIx risolve questo problema

Da ipotesi condivisa a fatto condiviso.

DMIx BulkControl puts the approved spectral reference at the center of every production measurement.

Before production begins, the approved color (measured, spectrally documented, and tolerance-defined during lab-dip approval) is available to every party in the chain as an objective digital standard. Suppliers measure bulk samples against this standard. The system evaluates the result automatically: within tolerance, borderline, or outside. No subjective comparison. No variable lighting. No memory of how it looked at approval.

Deviations are detected during production, when they can still be corrected, not after goods have shipped. Every measurement is documented, traceable, and linked to the original approval. Borderline cases are flagged for human review with all data visible, not escalated because someone "wasn't sure."

Impatto

Cosa cambia in modo misurabile.

  • Earlier defect detection, during production, not after delivery..
  • Fewer claims and disputes.

When a deviation is documented in the system, there is no room for disagreement about what was approved or what was delivered.

  • Objective tolerance management.

"Close enough" becomes a defined number, agreed upfront, not a judgment call at receipt.

  • Lower cost of quality.

Corrections in production cost a fraction of returns, rework, or rejects after delivery.

Comprovato nella pratica

Production teams that have moved from visual inspection to spectral measurement in DMIx consistently report a significant drop in color-related claims, alongside shorter lead times, as fewer disputes require retrospective resolution.

FAQ

Domande frequenti.

With a spectral reference, defined ΔE tolerances per substrate, and automated pass/fail evaluation of every batch against the approved standard. This produces objective, documented and audit-ready decisions instead of visual judgement.

Tool · DMIx Measure

Measure and colorimetrically analyze colors with DMIx Measure.

DMIx Measure is the tool for this, as part of the Color Library. With DMIx Measure, measurement devices from the major manufacturers can be connected, colors measured and colorimetrically analyzed. Colors are no longer just described or photographed, they are translated into objective digital values.
